BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalkeeper Olivia Peters (So., Darien, Conn./Darien) of the United States Military Academy anchored Army to a 3-0 mark at the 2023 Men’s Collegiate Club New York Division Championship tournament to lead her team to the division championship and earn status as the October 23 New York Division Player of the Week.
No. 2 seed Army – which earns the New York Division’s bid to the 2023 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship at the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center in Kearns, Utah, on Friday-Sunday, November 10-12 – topped host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (23-3 W) and New York University (15-7 W) prior to turning back regular season champion/No. 1 seed Cornell University (10-8 W) thanks to 12 saves from Peters.
She competed in a total of 63 minutes during the weekend with seven minutes of action versus RPI prior to going the distance against both NYU and Cornell.
Her best performance came under the pressure of a title game appearance as she allowed eight goals against Cornell with only three of the eight strikes coming with both teams at full-strength.
The championship marks the 11th for Army since 1995 as the Cadets previously captured the New York Division crown in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022.
