WASHINGTON, Pa. — Penn State Behrend of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) raced out to leads of 4-1 and 9-2 by the conclusion of the first and second quarters, respectively, on the way to a 15-6 victory over Monmouth College in non-conference action at Washington & Jefferson College.
The Behrend Lions never trailed in opening up a 3-0 lead with 5:16 left in the first quarter on the way to a nine-goal victory.
Monmouth trimmed its deficit down to 9-4 with 5:48 remaining in the third quarter, but back-to-back tallies to close the third and open the fourth quarter rebuilt the spread to seven strikes at 11-4.
The Fighting Scots chipped the gap back to six at 11-5 and 12-6, but Penn State Behrend ripped off three consecutive markers in the final 3:54 of the fourth quarter to put the contest out of reach.
