WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend women’s water polo team opened conference play in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) by narrowly dropping games to host Washington & Jefferson College, 12-11, and Grove City College, 14-13,

In the opener versus W&J, the Presidents took a 10-8 advantage into the final frame in game one  However, Behrend potted three in the fourth quarter but would allow two, resulting in a 12-11 loss

In game two, Grove City scored the game-winning goal with 10 seconds remaining.  Prior to the Wolverines scoring the final tally, the Lions erased a two-goal deficit in under a minute of game time to tie it.

Emily McNaughton (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) led Behrend against Grove City with four goals

Shannon Young (Roseville, Calif./Roseville) and Marley Persch (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) each added multi-goal games with two each

McNaughton and Persch both tallied two scores against Washington & Jefferson.
