SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Penn State Behrend women’s water polo team fell to host Wittenberg University, 9-5, and took down Division III No. 5-ranked Carthage College in overtime, 10-8, during Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III league action.

In game one versus the host Tigers, Penn State Behrend fell behind 2-0 after the first quarter and was unable to overcome the deficit.

Shannon Young (Roseville, Calif./Roseville) led the team with three goals, while Sarah Mancebo (Tulare, Calif./Mission Oak) and Viviana Euan (La Habra, Calif./Troy) each contributed one.

Chloe Dodgen (Riverside, Calif./Hillcrest) tallied 10 saves and two steals in the net.

In game two versus Carthage, Behrend came out strong, matching Carthage at 2-2 after the first quarter.

The Lions outscored the Firebirds in the second and third periods by 3-1 and 3-2 counts prior to Carthage outscoring Penn State Behrend 3-0 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

In the first extra frame, Penn State Behrend put up two goals and held on the rest of the way for a 10-8 victory. 

Young led the team with three goals and two assists, while Angela Laier (Lansing, Mich./Holt) chipped in three goals.

Dodgen had a season-high 20 saves in goal, registering the win.
