WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend women’s water polo team fell to Austin College, 17-13, and Carthage College, 16-12, on the second day of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III competition hosted at Washington & Jefferson College’s Henry Memorial Natatorium.
Facing Austin, the Lions outscored the Kangaroos by a 5-2 count in the fourth quarter but could not overcome an early deficit
Karis Barth, Hope Edwards and Darragh Martin each scored in the first quarter to keep the game within one at 4-3. However, Austin tallied four goals in the second quarter in expanding the lead to 8-6 entering halftime before outscoring the Lions 7-3 in the third quarter.
Barth and Kaitlyn True tallied two goals each in the fourth quarter as the Lions attempted to roar back.
Barth and Martin both finished with three goals in the loss.
Facing Carthage for the first time in 2026, Penn State Berhend fell behind by halftime as the Firebirds used a 5-1 second quarter to break open a three-all first quarter tie.
Carthage tallied five more goals in the third quarter and then added three more in the fourth quarter to stymie the Lions.
Susie Carrillo scored a team-best four goals and True registered three markers in support of a five save effort by netminder Monica Villasenor.
Grace Steinberg scored four goals to lead Carthage.
