BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Penn State Behrend’s Lauren Wood (Sr., Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) posted 23 goals, seven assists, four steals, three drawn penalty shot and eight drawn kickouts during the opening weekend of league competition after racking up seven goals and an assist in a pair of California concluding competitions to collect accolades as the March 11 Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Player of the Week.

Wood, who finished with 30 goals, six steals and seven assists during a 1-5 week for the Lions,opened the seven-day span by scoring three times against Division III No. 10-ranked Occidental College (15-8 L) and four times with an assist against the California Institute of Technology (14-11 L).

Competing at Washington & Jefferson College on Saturday-Sunday, March 9-10, in the opening weekend of CWPA Division III-East Region competition, she posted six goals and two assists versus Connecticut College (16-15 L) to go along with six goals, four assists and four steals facing Utica College (14-8 W).  Wood wrapped up the week with six and five goals against Grove City College (16-9 L) and Washington & Jefferson (17-13 L), respectively.

Wood, who now has 159 career goals, set a few milestones this week by shattering the Penn State Behrend record for career goals. She also broke the program record for drawn penalty shots and eclipsed a 15-year old school record for drawn penalty shots in a season with nine.
