BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Princeton University alumna Ashley Hatcher collected a game-high four steals as Argentina exploited a 5-3 scoring advantage in the second half to top the Republic of South Africa, 7-6, during the second day of Group B competition at the 2022/19th Annual FINA World Championships hosted in Budapest, Hungary.

Competing at the Debrecen Swimming Pool Complex, Hatcher shot zero-for-two from the field with a pair of turnover fouls, four steals, a rebound and a field block as Argentina rebounded from a 29-6 loss to the Netherlands in the team’s opening game of the championship on Monday, June 20.

A 2015 graduate of Princeton, Hatcher will seek to defeat a former Tigers’ teammate on Friday, June 24, as Argentina will face the United States of America – anchored by two-time Olympic Gold Medalist/former Princeton goalie Ashleigh Johnson – in the conclusion of Group B action.  Team USA enters the clash with a 2-0 record following an 11-7 dispatching of the Netherlands in the Americans’ second game of the championship.
