2022 Princeton University Women’s Water Polo Schedule

PRINCETON, N.J. — Princeton University women’s water polo head coach Derek Ellingson recently announced the Tigers’ 2022 schedule.

The Tigers begin play on January 21-23 at the University of California-Santa Barbara Invitational in Santa Barbara, Calif., as Princeton faces California Baptist University, Iona College, the host Gauchos and the University of California-San Diego.  A week later, Princeton ventures across the Delaware River to Philadelphia, Pa., for a single game versus the Explorers of La Salle University on January 30.

The Tigers will remain on the road for a February 4 game at Villanova University in Villanova, Pa., prior to returning to the Garden State of New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational on February 11-13.  During the squad’s home tournament, Princeton will face Long Island University, St. Francis College Brooklyn, the Virginia Military Institute, Bucknell University and Saint Francis University.  The Bucknell and Saint Francis games are Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) league games.

Following nearly two weeks off, the Tigers will go back on the prowl with road league games at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md. (February 25) and Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa. (February 26).  While at Bucknell, Princeton will also also face Saint Francis (February 26) and Brown University (February 27) in league competition.

The team will hit the road for a West Coast swing as Princeton faces California State University-Northridge and San Diego State University on March 6 in San Diego, Calif., prior to visiting Long Beach State University (March 8) in Long Beach, Concordia University (March 9) in Irvine and the University of La Verne (March 9) in La Verne, Calif. prior to participating in the Loyola Marymount University Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif., on the weekend of March 11-12 versus opponents to be announced at a later date.

A string of home league games then dot the Princeton schedule as the Tigers host Harvard University (April 2), Mount St. Mary’s (April 3) and defending CWPA Champion the University of Michigan (April 3).  A week later, the team concludes its regular season slate at Harvard in Cambridge with contests versus the host Crimson (April 9) and Michigan (April 9) prior to visiting Providence, R.I., for a game at Brown (April 10).

Princeton will return to Bucknell for the CWPA Championship on April 22-24 with eyes on claiming the league crown and a berth to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Water Polo Championship slated for May 6-8 at Michigan’s Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, Mich.
