PRINCETON, N.J. — Princeton University women’s water polo head coach Derek Ellingson announced the Tigers’ incoming Class of 2025.

“This Class of 2025 is a group of five very talented players encompassing many different positions from many different states,” said Ellingson. “The two defenders, center, utility and 4-5 attacker provide us with great depth.”

Laguna Beach: 2020 All-CIF D-I and OC Register All-County Second Team … Named Daily Pilot Athlete of the Week … Team won back-to-back CIF D-I titles and the regional state title in 2020 … Set the school record for single-season assists and steals … Lettered in swimming … Was on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll all four years

Personal: Daughter of Julia and Rob Carver … Has two sisters, Hannah and Kara … Father, Rob, and cousin, Lauren, played water polo at University of Southern California.


Grace Houlahan
Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach: Second-team All-America and second-team All-League in 2018 … Earned team’s Most Valuable Defender … Team was four-time League Champions, earned three State titles and three Division I CIF crowns … Also lettered in Swimming and Diving … All-Academic … Scholar Athlete.

Personal: Daughter of Katie and Mike Houlahan … Has two siblings.

Henry M. Gunn: First-Team All-League twice … All-CSS Honorable Mention in 2019 … All-CCS Third Team in 2019 … Water Polo squad was SCVAL Co-Champions twice and CCS D-I champion in 2019 … Swimming team won the SCVAL and CCS crowns two times … Lettered in swimming all four years … Member of the school newspaper …. Earned Presidential Community Service and National Spanish Exam silver medals … AP Scholar … USA Water Polo All-Academic.

Personal: Daughter of Amy Zegart and Craig Mallery … Has two brothers, Alex and Jack … Brother, Jack, plays water polo at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.

Belgrade, Serbia/The Episcopal Academy (Pa.)

Episcopal Academy: First Team All-Eastern and Eastern MVP twice … Named Main Line Times Athlete of the Week two times … Member of the women’s youth national team … Squad won the Eastern title three times … Lettered in swimming and track as well.

Personal: Daughter of Sladana and Goran Sekulic … Has two brothers, Matej and Luka … Brother, Matej, plays on the Princeton men’s water polo team.

Stamford, Conn./Greenwich Academy

Greenwich Academy: A two-time captain that was the team highest scorer three times … New England Championship All-Tournament MVP three years … GA Team MVP Award as a junior … New England All-American squad three times … Team was three-time New England Champion … Also played volleyball and swam … Named Greenwich Aquatics MVP twice and school MVP three times … Member of the DREAM Club … Honor Roll

Club/ODP: Member of a U.S. national team for four years … 2018 Tournament MVP in Hungary.

Personal: Daughter of Faina and Alex Yelensky … Has one brother … Father played water polo at University of Massachusetts.
