BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Princeton University’s Emese Batizi (So., Budapest, Hungary/Szent István Gimnázium) converted on one-of-two action shots for Hungary, but the United States exploited a 5-2 fourth quarter scoring run to claim an 11-10 opening victory in Group B at the 2025 World Aquatics Women’s U20 Water Polo Championships in Salvador, Brazil.
The Americans rallied back in the game as Hungary held 4-2, 7-4 and 8-6 leads at the conclusion of the first, second and third quarters, respectively. However, Team USA put together a miracle finish during the contest’s closing minutes to claim a one-goal victory.
Hungary will return to the water at 1:30 p.m. local/12:30 p.m. Eastern on Monday, August 11, against Italy.
