BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Kristóf Kovács (Fr., Hódmezovásárhely, Hungary/Bethlen Gábor Reformed) of No. 6-ranked Princeton University went 2-0 with defeats of No. 16 California Baptist University and No. 7 Long Beach State University at the 2023 Overnght/Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Invitational hosted by the University of Southern California and the University of California-Los Angeles.  For his performance, Kovacs garners credit as the September 25 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

The September 11 and September 18 NWPC Rookie of the Week along with holding previous Defensive Player of the Week status on September 18, the award marks the fourth time in three weeks Kovas earns a NWPC weekly award from the league office.

He opened his team’s trip to the West Coast by turning aside 10 shots in a 16-8 defeat of No. 16 California Baptist University at UCLA’s Spieker Aquatics Center on Friday, September 22, prior to making six saves in a 9-8 victory over No. 7 Long Beach State University on Saturday, September 23, at USC’s Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
