BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalkeeper Lindsey Lucas (Sr., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) of No. 12-ranked Princeton University made 18 saves in seven quarters of work on Saturday,, March 21 versus No. 12 the University of Michigan and Saint Francis University at home in DeNunzio Pool to earn notice as the March 23 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.
The most decorated athlete in the history of men’s and women’s collegiate water polo for weekly laurels from a league with 23 Defensive Player of the Week (2023 – January 30, February 13, February 27, March 20, April 3, April 10, May 15; 2024 – February 12, February 19 March 4, March 18, April 1, April 8, April 15, April 29, May 13; 2025 – January 27, March 10, April 7, April 14, April 21; 2026 – March 16; March 23) and four Rookie of the Week (2023 – January 30, February 27, May 1, May 15) awards for a total of 27 accolades, she surpassed the record of 25 (19 Defensive Player of the Week, two Rookie of the Week, four Player of the Week) weekly awards claimed by CWPA Hall of Fame member/Olympic gold medalist Ashleigh Johnson ’17 last week.
She turned aside 11 shots as the Tigers took down Michigan, 9-8, to start the day and tacked on seven saves in three quarters of action versus Saint Francis as Princeton concluded its league regular season schedule with a 5-1 mark.
