BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Lindsey Lucas (Fr., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) of No. 4-ranked Princeton University made 24 saves over two games at the 2023 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Water Polo Championship hosted the University of the Pacific to earn recognition as the May 15 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week.

The honors marks her 10th and 11th of the season as she previously claimed the January 30 and February 27 CWPA Division I Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week awards along with notice as the February 13, March 20, April 3, April 10 Rookie and May 1 Defensive Player of the Week.

She made 15 saves as the Tigers stopped No. 7 the University of California with an 11-9 victory in the first round of the championship.  In the tournament semifinals, she added nine saves as Princeton fell to No. 2 the University of Southern California by an 18-8 count.

For her performance, Lucas earned NCAA Championship All-Tournament First Team honors.

Collegiate Water Polo Association
