BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Marissa Webb (So., Danville, Calif./San Ramon) of No. 15-ranked Princeton University made 23 saves over three games to lead the Tigers to a runner-up finish at the 2019 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship hosted by Brown University.  For her performance, she is named the April 29 CWPA Division I Defensive Player of the Week.

Webb opened the tournament by stopping five shots to shutout Saint Francis University during the first half of a 12-3 victory against the Red Flash.  In the tournament semifinals, she turned aside 12 shots to allow Princeton to punch its ticket to the CWPA Championship title game via an 11-5 defeat of No. 17 Bucknell University.

Facing No. 6 University of Michigan for the league championship and an automatic berth to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship, Webb made six saves as Princeton fell to the Wolverines by a 10-6 final score.

The award marks the third time in 2019 Webb has garnered Defensive Player of the Week recognition following earlier laurels on March 4 and April 1.
