BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Roko Pozaric (Fr., Zagreb, Croatia/Gimnazija Titusa Brezovackog) of No. 9-ranked Princeton University tallied six goals, four assists, four steals and three ejections drawn while doing perfect on sprints during a 3-0 West Coast weekend for the Tigers against nationally ranked opponents. For his performance, Pozaric is named the September 20 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) co-Rookie of the Week.
He shares the award with Adonis Vlassis (So., Athens, Greece/Lycee Franchohellenique Eugene Delacroix) of St. Francis College Brooklyn. Vlassis contributed 10 goals, two assists, three steals and two ejections drawn during a 3-1 weekend for the Terriers on the road at Bucknell University.
A five-time weekly honor recipient as he claimed the September 6 NWPC Player of the Week award and shared Rookie of the Week notice with Harvard University’s Andrej Basica (Fr., Belgrade, Serbia/Third Belgrade Grammar School) on September 6 before picking up recognition as both the Player and Rookie of the Week on September 13, Pozaric factored in each of Princeton’s victories in California.
He registered his eighth hat-trick of the season in an 11-10 win at No. 17 Loyola Marymount University on September 18 prior to accounting for a goal and a pair of assists in a 14-9 victory in Malibu over No. 12 Pepperdine University. Pozaric wrapped up his week by scoring twice and dishing out a pair of helpers in a 12-10 comeback win at No. 13 University of California-Irvine on September 19.
