ERIE, Pa. — Saint Francis University swept its first day games at Mercyhurst University’s 2026 Curtis Robinette Memorial Invitational at the David M. Hallman III Aquatics Center as the Red Flash scorched Grove City College, 18-7, in the morning and Gannon University, 12-8, in the afternoon.
Facing Grove City, SFU gained control early to construct a 6-4 lead after the opening quarter and extending the advantage to 12-4 by halftime. The Red Flash continued to apply pressure in the second half, maintaining control to secure the victory.
Saint Francis converted efficiently on offense, finishing with 18 goals on 27 attempts. Caylah Olay led the attack with five goals and three assists, while Lexanny Gonzalez added three goals and three assists. Megan Marlin and Lucy Willis contributed key goals and defensive plays, while Victoria Tamarit tacked on a marker and four saves in goal.
Closing out the day versus Gannon, Saint Francis scored six times in the opening quarter and carried an 8-6 lead into halftime. The Red Flash remained composed in a one-goal contest after three quarters before pulling away over the final eight minutes to garner a 12-8 victory.
Olay powered the Red Flash offense with eight goals on nine attempts. Willis added three goals and three drawn exclusions, while Sarah Hartwell notched two steals. Tamarit recorded crucial saves and steals to help seal the win.
