BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III ranks will expand to 11 teams in 2026-27 as Denison University and Saint Francis University join Augustana College, Austin College, Carthage College, Connecticut College, Grove City College, Macalester College, Penn State Behrend, Washington & Jefferson College and Wheaton College (Mass.).
Due to Saint Francis maintaining athletes that were/are athletic scholarship recipients, the Red Flash will contest a non-conference schedule with games not counting towards the CWPA Division III regular season standings. Saint Francis will compete at the CWPA Division III Championship in Kenosha, Wis., hosted by Carthage as the championship will feature all 11 CWPA Division III institutions. Due to SFU’s unique position, the Red Flash will compete in a round-robin series against the losers of first round games matching the No. 7-vs.-No. 10 and No. 8-vs.-No. 9 seeds. The winner of the meeting between the loser of the No. 7-vs.-No. 10 and No. 8-vs.-No. 9 seeds will place ninth in the final standings, while the loser claims 10th place.
Denison will contest a countable CWPA Division III regular season slate of games and will be eligible for a final placement among the Top 10 teams at the championship.
