BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Saint Francis University women’s water polo team welcomes four freshmen in the Red Flash’s Class of 2024.
The quartet hail from around the globe as Emese Szucs (Budapest, Hungary), Katelyn Meagher (Palos Heights, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), Jenna Handlai (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) and Emma Allamain (St. Charles, Ill./Saint Charles North) are anticipated to compete for Saint Francis in 2021.
An attacker, Szucs played at the POLO Sport Club and previously competed on the U13, U15 and U17 Hungarian national teams. She won the National Championship Gold medal in 2015 and won the National Championship Silver medal three times (2016, 2017, 2019).
A defender, Meagher was twice named all-conference (2018, 2019) in addition to being named all-sectional and all-state following her junior season in 2019. During her junior season, Lincoln-Way East was ranked 10th in Illinois as Meagher tallied 87 goals, 38 assists, 42 steals and 12 ejections earned. She also earned four letters in swimming, specializing in the IM and 100 breaststroke.
An attacker, Handlai received the Coaches Award following her junior season in 2019 at Greenwich and the Leadership Award at the 2018 Junior Olympics. A Most Valuable Player at the 2017 Junior Olympic, she earned four letters in swimming, serving as team captain her senior season. In swimming, she was named All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Conference (FCIAC) First Team, All-America and Most Outstanding Junior in 2018.
A utility player, Allamain was captain of her high school team her senior season and also swam for Saint Charles Water Polo Club. In addition, she was a letter-winner in swimming.
