BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Emese Szucs (Fr., Budapest, Hungary) made her first intercollegiate games count by notching seven goals, five assists and four steals during a 2-2 opening weekend for Saint Francis University at the Hoosier Invite hosted by Indiana University.  The 12-point outburst (seven goals, five assists) helps her earn notice as the February 8 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) co-Rookie of the Week.

She shares Rookie of the Week status with teammate/classmate Jenna Handali (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) who posted five goals, six assists and three steals to claim Player and co-Rookie honors.

Szucs opened the weekend with pairs of goals, assists and steals in a 12-8 overtime defeat of Salem University on Saturday, February 6.  Following a goal in a 16-2 loss to the host/No. 13-ranked Hoosiers to close out the day, she returned to the pool on Sunday, February 7, to chip in a goal, an assist and two steals in a 12-7 win over Salem.

In the weekend’s final game, she found the back of the cage three times and dished out a pair of helpers as the Red Flash fell to Indiana, 17-8.
