BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Emese Szucs (Fr., Budapest, Hungary) netted 12 goals with an assist, eight steals and a pair of field blocks during a 3-1 weekend for No. 25-ranked Saint Francis University at the Villanova University Invitational. For her efforts, Szucs is named the March 8 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.
A two-time Rookie of the Week selection after previously sharing honors on February 8 with teammate Jenna Handali (Fr., Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich), Szucs opened the weekend trip to the Philadelphia metro region’s Main Line by burying five goals in a 17-7 defeat of Mount St. Mary’s University on Saturday, March 6. Later in the day, she chipped in pairs of goals and steals in a 13-12 loss to the host Wildcats.
On Sunday, March 7, she notched two steals in a 10-9 win over Salem University prior to finding the back of the cage five times and grabbing three steals in a 16-12 handling of the Virginia Military Institute.
