2021 Salem University Men’s Water Polo Schedule

SALEM, W.Va. — Salem University released the institution’s 2021 men’s water polo schedule.

A member of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-West Region, the Tigers will open their 2021 season on the road at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., on Saturday-Sunday, September 4-5, as the team competes in the Navy Open.  Action commences on Saturday, September 4, as Salem faces Johns Hopkins University and Navy prior to battling Mount St. Mary’s University and Bucknell University on Sunday, September 5.

Following a two-week break, the Tigers return to the water on Saturday-Sunday, September 18-19, at the Bison Invitational hosted by Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa., againste Wagner College, St. Francis College Brooklyn, Mount St. Mary’s and the host Bison.

The team then hits the road to Erie, Pa., for a game at Penn State Behrend on Friday, September 24, prior to battling Gannon University, Mercyhurst University and Washington & Jefferson College on Saturday-Sunday, September 25-26, at the Hallman Aquatics Center.

Following an Alumni Game on Saturday, October 2, at home in West Virginia, Salem will again hit the road to Lebanon, Ill., for games hosted by McKendree University against the Bearcats, Mercyhurst and first-year varsity program Augustana College on Saturday, October 9. 

The team will make a quick turnaround to square-off with Gannon on Sunday, October 10, in West Virginia prior to returning to the road for a trip to Cambridge, Mass., on Saturday-Sunday, October 16-17.

The October 16-17 dates will see the Tigers clash with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Brown University, Connecticut College and host Harvard University.

Once more Salem will go back on the road on Saturday, October 23, as the team faces Mercyhurst, Gannon and McKendree for the CWPA Division II Championship at the Hallman Aquatics Center in Erie.

Salem will finally earn more than a one-game homestand to conclude the regular season as the Tigers host Gannon, McKendree, Mercyhurst, Mount St. Mary’s and Washington & Jefferson on Saturday-Sunday, November 6-7, for a six-game event at the West Virginia Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W. Va., to determine the MAWPC-West Championship.  The victor of the MAWPC-West Championship punches its ticket to the MAWPC Championship where Salem’s season began – Navy – for the 12-game event to determine the league champion and automatic qualifier for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
