Collegiate Varsity

University of the Pacific Seeks Manager of Water Polo Operations (June 20, 2017)

University of the Pacific seeks an individual responsible for assisting in the administration and management of the men’s and women’s water polo programs.

Essential Functions
1. Arranges all travel for men’s and women’s water polo team contests conducted away from the Pacific campus.
2. Coordinates fundraising and promotional activities for the men’s and women’s water polo program.
3. Coordinates camps and clinics for the men’s and women’s water polo program.
4. Arranges all practice facility usage both on and off campus.
5. Assists in monitoring the academic performance of men’s and women’s water polo student-athletes.
6. Handles the men’s and women’s water polo film exchange program.
7. Orders and distributes all team apparel and equipment.
8. Assists in driving the teams on all travel trips.
9. Other duties as assigned by the head men’s and women’s water polo coach.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Two years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree with specific emphasis/concentration in sports management or related field.
• Strong Computer skills.
• Working knowledge of NCAA and University of the Pacific rules and regulations as they pertain to student-athletes and prospective student-athletes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and proven organizational skills.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively in team environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to persuade encourage and motivate team members.
• Possesses a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work successfully with all levels of the organization and diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative but not definitive of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking (or “walking across campus,” if applicable), climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Other Requirements:

• Work performed in standard office or athletic venues.
• Requires flexibility in schedule to meet recruiting, game and event schedules.
• Extensive travel required both national and international.
• Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.

University of California-Los Angeles Seeks Head Women’s Water Polo Coach (June 19, 2017)

George Washington University Seeks Head Men’s & Women’s Water Polo Coach (June 16, 2017)

George Washington University seeks applicants for the position of head men’s and women’s water polo coach.

Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine, the Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s Water Polo will lead the water polo programs by performing the following:

  • Identify and recruit academically qualified and athletically talented men’s and women’s water polo student-athletes.
  • Schedules and conduct practice sessions and assist in scheduling of regular season contests
  • Is responsible for individual player skill development and team performance development
  • Oversees administrative processes pertaining to team travel, budget, student-athlete eligibility, and academic progress. Responsible for knowledge of and full commitment to compliance with all NCAA, Conference, University, and Department of Athletics and Recreation rules and regulations
  • Is responsible for the full academic and social development of water polo student-athletes, to include consultation with the student-athlete, Academic Support Staff, and other University administrators and support staff.
  • Assists in team and department fundraising and public relations activities. Responsible for managing camps and clinics as approved
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships and communications with students, colleagues, university staff, alumni, donors, and general public.

The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC but will require significant domestic travel for games and events. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and experience, is necessary plus 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years of water polo coaching experience at the Division I level; Experience with fiscal management and daily operations of an intercollegiate athletics department preferred; Strong organizational, management and communications skills with attention to detail are necessary.

United States Air Force Academy Seeks Second Assistant Men’s Water Polo Coach (June 15, 2017)

The United States Air Force Academy Directorate of Athletics anticipates filling the full-time position of Men’s Water Polo, Second Assistant Coach, beginning on 1 August 2017 and terminating on 30 Jun 2018.  Subsequent 12 month (1 July to 30 June) re-appointments will be considered based upon an assessment of performance, Air Force and departmental needs, and funding availability.  Salary offer is $3,000/month, plus fulltime benefits; which include Cigna Medical (2 plans – a “high” and “low” option), Cigna Dental, VSP (Vision), Life/AD&D Insurance ($20k employer paid + optional voluntary coverage), FSA (Medical and Dependent Care), 401(k) – Employer match of 5% (immediate vesting).

Collegiate Club Jobs

Carnegie Mellon University Seeks Head Men’s Water Polo Coach (May 8, 2017)

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking applicants for a part-time university club sports men’s water polo coach. The university club sports men’s water polo coach will possess the following requirements:

Coach’s Vision

  • Possess knowledge of effective training methods and use this knowledge to create a training program that is consistent with competing at the highest levels of collegiate Water Polo.
  • Make this plan and its motivations and explanations available to the team.
  • Implement this plan, including but not limited to: attending practices, giving feedback both during and outside of practice, providing guidance to those who wish to do additional training outside of practice.

Practice

  • Be present during practice, unless a prior arrangement is made for the president, vice president, or captain to lead a practice.
  • When in the competitive season, hold practices at least twice per week during the fall and spring season.
  • Begin and end all practices on time.

Games

  • Choose game schedule in conjunction with the Club president.
  • Attend all league games, unless an alternative arrangement is made in advance.

Communication

  • Maintain direct communication with Club president, vice presidents, and captains about practices, timing, training programs, logistics, etc.
  • Work with the administrative players to ensure the success of the team, including but is not limited to recruitment, game schedule, practices, purchases, and fundraisers.

Team

  • Focus on the team playing the sport (the majority of the administrative duties should fall on the President, Vice Presidents and anyone else they elect to help).
  • Maintain professional conduct at all times.
  • Remain aware of the evolving team dynamic as well as provide clear direction to the entire team and coaching staff.
  • Communicate to the Club all undoubted expectations the Coach has for the team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Collegiate coaching experience preferred. This is an Independent Contractor position with the Carnegie Mellon University Athletics Department.

More Information

This is not an employee position. The Independent Contractor will work closely with student organizations, while the contracting relationship is managed by the Athletics Department. The successful applicant must be willing to complete all necessary Independent Contractor requirements. Background check is required prior to employment.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute Seeks Head Men’s Water Polo Coach (January 16, 2017)

The club water polo team at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is in immediate need of a coach. The team practices three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30-10:00 p.m. Coaches are encouraged to attend practice at least once a week, if not more.

WPI has three weekends of league games that the coach will be required to attend. The team also hosts a round robin invitational tournament in the Spring. Spontaneous invitations to play in other school’s tournaments also occur during the course of the academic year.

Some water polo experience is encouraged but not necessary.  Compensation is dependent upon approval from the club sports director based on the applicant’s commitment, experience, etc.

Deerfield Academy, located in Deerfield, Mass., seeks a head water polo coach for the men’s and women’s program at the institution. Founded in 1797, Deerfeld is an independent, coeducational boarding and day school located in Western Massachusetts. Boys compete in the Fall and the girls compete in the spring. Ideal situation is for new coach to be full-time here at the Academy. This person would live on campus, teach classes or work with admissions.

Choate Rosemary Hall Seeks Assistant Water Polo Coach (February 21, 2017)

Choate Rosemary Hall is considering qualified candidates to fill the position of assistant water polo coach. This role is part of a teaching appointment to the faculty; candidates should be prepared to take on residential and other duties traditionally associated with boarding school life. Choate has a long and successful history of water polo, fielding varsity and junior varsity teams for both the boys and the girls. We play primarily against teams in the Western New England Preparatory School Athletic Association. Since the team’s inception we frequently qualified for the post-season, making it to the championship game on several occasions.  Both boys’ and girls’ water polo players have been named to the New England All-Tournament Team and throughout the years quite a few have gone on to play water polo in college.

Applicants must be dynamic individuals who are passionate about their discipline, collaborative and innovative in their approach to teaching and coaching, and who embrace and support the diversity of our student body.  Our faculty is deeply committed to the entire student experience, as such it is expected that faculty responsibilities will include a combination of student advising, residential life, and extracurricular activities.
