BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Seven members of the 2018 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Champion University of Michigan Wolverines are among a record 159 Maize & Blue student-athletes garnering recognition on the 2018 Academic All-Big Ten Team.

The 159 Spring selections are the most for the Wolverines since the Big Ten started the awards in 2009-10.

Pairs of seniors and juniors along with a trio of sophomores earned recognition from the Wolverines’ women’s water polo team as Caroline Anderson (Sr., Palo Alto, Calif./Henry M. Gunn), Laura Jimenez (Sr., Commerce, Calif./Montebello), Kim Johnson (Jr., Walnut Creek, Calif./Las Lomas), Julia Sellers (Jr., Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill), Skyler Pyle (So., Long Beach, Calif./Mater Dei), Heidi Ritner (So., Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar) and Maddy Steere (So., Pascoe Vale, Australia/St. Catherine’s School) were recognized for their work in the classroom.

Criteria for making the Academic All-Big Ten team includes a student-athlete being in at least their second academic year at their institution and maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
