2026 U20 European Championship Schedule
BRONX, N.Y. — The 2026 U20 European Championship is underway this week and has plenty of representation from the Fordham University water polo program with six student athletes competing for four countries in the Men’s Division Elite contested in Varna, Bulgaria, on Monday-Sunday, August 10-16. The six athletes are the most for any collegiate water polo team.
Among those competing are junior Andras Toth (Hungary), sophomores Diego Tresa and Alessandro Salipante (Italy), freshmen Vuk Kojic and Viktor Savic (Serbia) and freshman Karlo Dragosevic (Croatia).
Through the first four days of the Championship, Toth, the reigning Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Most Valuable Player, has Hungary in the quarterfinals with a 2-2 record with wins over Greece and Turkey. In total, he has registered eight goals, highlighted by a four-goal game against Croatia, to go with four assists, two steals, and five blocks. Hungary faces Spain in the first quarterfinal on Friday, August 14.
Italy posted a 3-0 record in group stage play to earn its spot in the quarterfinals by recording wins over Croatia, Greece and Hungary. Tresa has been solid for Italy, netting two goals in each of its three victories, while Salipante has yet to appear in a match. Italy faces Germany in the third quarterfinal match on Friday.
Serbia also punched their ticket into the quarterfinals with some quality play from their Fordham duo. Kojic has eight goals in three matches, highlighted by five goals and three assists in a win over Germany. Savic has been the starting goalie in two of Serbia three matches, totaling 23 saves in contests against Spain and Montenegro. Serbia will play Croatia in the second quarterfinal on Friday.
For Croatia, Dragosevic has combined for four goals in their four matches, which includes a hat trick against Greece.
