BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Former St. Francis College Brooklyn goalkeeper Djordje Stoiljkovic (Sr., Nis, Serbia/First Grammar School Stevan Sremac) is heading from Brooklyn and the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) to Staten Island and the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) as the former Terrier will join Wagner College for the 2023 season.
Following a freshman season in 2019 during which he appeared in 19 games with three starts, 294 minutes in the cage and 96 saves on 131 shots faced, he helped lead a revitalization of the St. Francis Brooklyn men’s water polo program over the past two seasons.
Following a 2020 campaign lost to the COVID-19 pandemic, Stoiljkovic anchored a resurgence of the Terriers’ which finished 16-7 and 21-10 in 2021 and 2022, respectively, with a pair of NWPC Championship runner-up finishes behind Princeton University. Historically, the team’s 21-10 record in 2022 marked the most single season wins by the Terriers since the 2013 squad finished 23-12. In addition, the 2019, 2021 and 2022 squads combined for a 56-28 record – the most victories in a three-year span for the Terriers since the 2015 (17-13), 2014 (16-13) and 2013 (23-12) teams posted a 56-38 mark.
St. Francis Brooklyn announced on March 20 a reorganization of the institution and the elimination of varsity athletics.
