BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — One of the biggest problems in any sport is the lack of officials to call games  – especially a specialized sport like water polo.

Similar to any sport, the best officials are past players – who have the knowledge of the rules and the flow of the event naturally ingrained.

Due to this, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA), in conjunction with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), actively seeks new officials to enrich the depth of referees around the nation.

Individuals interested in starting the process to become a CWPA Official should send an email with past officiating experience to Ed Reed, CWPA Coordinator of Officials, at edswimpolo@charter.net or officials@collegiatewaterpolo.org.  If an individual has no prior experience as an official, please list water polo playing/coaching experience (including dates).

First time referees inaugural assignments will be at the collegiate club level with a senior CWPA official on hand to provide evaluation and education. If an individual is an experienced referee, they will be evaluated by a senior referee to determine the newcomers level of ability for future assignments.
