COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) Athletic Department, is seeking applicants for its Division I Men’s Head Coach Water Polo Position. Selected individual will perform duties in the directorate of Athletics, United States Air force Academy and report directly to the Associate Director of Athletics for Sport Administration/Athletic Programs.

USAFA, located just north of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is an undergraduate institution that awards the Bachelor of Science degree as part of its mission to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become officers of character, motivated to lead in the United States Air Force and in service to our nation. Faculty applications are invited from candidates who can contribute to this mission by interacting with cadets, both in and out of the classroom, as instructors and mentors. The student body consists of approximately 4,000 men and women representing every state and several foreign countries. The Academy faculty is an integrated group of military and civilian educators. The curriculum includes core academic and professional courses, and 27 disciplinary and interdisciplinary majors.

The department anticipates filling the TERM (full-time) position of Advanced Instructor of Physical Education (Water Polo), beginning on 19 Feb 2018 and terminating on 30 June 2020. Subsequent re-appointments will be considered based upon an assessment of performance, Air Force and departmental needs, and funding availability. This position is in the excepted civil service.Perform duties in the Directorate of Athletics, United States Air Force Academy. Will manage and instruct competitive athletic programs, perform, assigned departmental duties, promote professional activities in area of athletic specialization. Teach undergraduate courses in Physical Education and participate in course curriculum developments as directed. This position will be responsible for leadership development and management of assigned USAFA’s NCAA intercollegiate Men’s Water Polo Program Program.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The selected candidate will be subject to a security investigation leading to successful completion of a background investigation with a favorable adjudication. The selectee’s failure to meet this requirement will be grounds for termination.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: An earned Bachelor’s degree (must be completed application deadline) in any discipline. Minimum 5 seasons of coaching experience in associated discipline (Water Polo) at the NCAA Division 1 Level.
ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES: Any.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Head Coach experience preferred. Must posses a commitment to academic achievement and Leadership development of student athletes in a military environment. Will posses advanced knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Master’s degree preferred. Understanding of strict Service Academy entry requirements, recruiting practices and rigorous academic demands on student athletes is a plus. Experience working with Western Water Polo Association or comparable conference. Teaching experience highly desired.
