ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Declan Bartlett (Fr., Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) of the United States Naval Academy was a guest on the Navy Sports Magazine released on September 8.

Over the weekend at home during the Navy Open, the plebe helped the No. 20-ranked Midshipmen to a 5-0 record with the team defeating Mount St. Mary’s University (15-14 W), Division III No. 5 Johns Hopkins (13-9 W), Salem University (23-11 W) and Austin College (17-5 W; 15-6 W).

He finished his first collegiate weekend of water polo with nine total points on eight goals and an assist. 

Against Mount St. Mary’s, Bartlett scored a goal on a five-meter attempt in his first collegiate action of his career in a one-goal Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) victory over the Mountaineers.  He followed that performance with his first collegiate hat trick, finishing with three goals against Johns Hopkins.  Following a score output with his inaugural intercollegiate assist in helping to stop Salem, he wrapped up his weekend by scoring a pair of goals versus the Kangaroos in the second game of the doubleheader.

For his performance, he garnered recognition as the September 7 MAWPC Rookie of the Week.
