BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Caden Capobianco (Sr., Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) helped No. 19-ranked the United States Naval Academy to a 4-0 record at the Salem Invitational hosted by Salem University at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park to earn recognition as the September 25 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

A seven-team MAWPC weekly award recipient from the league office with prior recognition during the Winter 2021 (February 22 Rookie of the Week), 2021 (September 13 Defensive Player of the Week; October 18 Defensive Player of the Week), 2022 (September 15 Defensive Player of the Week) and 2023 (September 4 Defensive Player of the Week; September 11 Defensive Player of the Week), Capobianco concluded the weekend with 22 saves and 11 steals.

He recorded five steals and two saves in 16-7 league defeat of Mount St. Mary’s University prior to adding 11 saves and seven steals in a 17-14 dispatching of the host Salem Tigers on Saturday, September 23.  Following a 17-9 victory by Navy over McKendree University during the morning of Sunday, September 24, he returned to the water and stopped six shots with three goals allowed and a pair of steals to help the Midshipmen get by Gannon University, 14-5.
