BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Isaac Salinas (Jr., Spring City, Pa./Malvern Prep) of No. 9-ranked the United States Naval Academy posted a team high 15 goals, including three hat-tricks, five steals and five ejections drawn during a 3-1 weekend for the Midshipmen.  For his performance, Salinas earns recognition as the February 22 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Player of the Week.

A two-time Player of the Week recipient following previous status on October 9 during the 2019 season, the award marks the sixth weekly honor bestowed upon Salinas who received four Rookie of the Week nods during the 2018 season (September 3, September 17, October 1, November 5).

He opened the weekend with eight of his team’s 11 goals during a 12-11 overtime loss in MAWPC-East Region, Southern Section, action, to No. 10 Bucknell University at home in Scott Natatorium on Saturday, February 20.  He punched in seven goals over the span of the second half and overtime as the Midshipmen suffered their inaugural setback of the Winter 2021 season. His eight goal output fell one score shy of tying the school record for most goals in a game (nine) – a record he tied last season.

In a game later the same day back at Scott versus the Bison, he did not score as Navy rolled to a 15-5 win.

On Sunday, February 21, at La Salle University’s Kirk Pool, he accounted for seven goals as the Mids topped the host Explorers (14-5 W) and Iona College (19-6 W).

Taking on a pair of foes from the MAWPC-East Region, Northern Section, Salinas stuffed in three scores versus La Salle and four more against Iona.
