BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Kiefer Black (Fr., San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) of No. 19-ranked the United States Naval Academy chipped in nine goals and nine assists to help the Midshipmen nix Mount St. Mary’s University, 16-7, McKendree University, 17-9, Gannon University, 14-5, and host Salem University, 17-14, at the Salem Invitational hosted at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park. For his performance, Black claims laurels as the September 25 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Rookie of the Week.
A first-time weekly honor recipient from the league office, he scored twice and dished out a trio of assists in a conference defeat of Mount St. Mary’s prior to punching in four goals with two assists in turning back the host Tigers on Saturday, September 23.
On Sunday, September 24, he capped off his weekend in West Virginia by connecting for pairs of goals and assists in mowing through McKendree prior to denting the twine once and handing out a pair of helpers to swamp Gannon.
