BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Max Sandberg (So., Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) of the United States Naval Academy made 11 saves to lead the Midshipmen to an upset victory over No. 16-ranked Fordham University, 15-12, on the road and earn status as the October 21 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

Sandberg logged a full 32 minutes between the pipes at goal for the Midshipmen to earn the win. He finished the game with a career-high 11 saves, posting four stops in the final quarter to hold the Rams scoreless in the fourth quarter. In addition, Sandberg recorded a team-high two steals in the game.

The sophomore notched double-digit stops for the fourth time in his career, including the second time against the Rams. In three career games against Fordham, Sandberg has 27 saves (9.0 per game).

On the year, Sandberg has 79 saves to go along with 17 steals and a pair of assists.
