BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Sam Collingwood (Fr., Orlando, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) helped No. 18-ranked the United States Naval Academy to a 2-1 mark at the 2023 Princeton Invitational hosted by Princeton University to earn status as the September 11 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Rookie of the Week.
Collingwood – who finished with a team-high nine goals and an assist – opened the weekend by scoring a goal on Saturday, September 9, in a 13-7 defeat of No. 20 Santa Clara University. ON Sunday, September 10, he scored five times and dished out an assist in a 16-8 victory over Division III No. 4 Chapman University.
In the Midshipmen’s weekend finale against Wagner College in a MAWPC clash, he led Navy with three goals as the squad dropped a 13-12 contest in overtime to the Seahawks.
