BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Abby Andrews (Fr., Indooroopilly, Australia/Brisbane Girl’s Grammar School) of No. 6-ranked the University of Michigan registered a goal, two assists and a steal during a 13-7 loss in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Water Polo Championship quarterfinals to No. 3 the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) at Stanford University to earn recognition as the May 13 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.

A seven-time Rookie of the Week selection with previous honors on January 21, February 4, February 11, March 4, March 25 and April 29, the weekly honor caps off an inaugural varsity season for Andrews in which she also claimed laurels as the CWPA Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-Conference recognition along with First Team All-Tournament and Rookie of the Tournament status at the CWPA Championship hosted by Brown University.

She closes out her rookie campaign with 57 goals, 71 assists, 128 points, 9 drawn exclusions, 47 steals, 13 field blocks and 41 sprint wins on 50 attempts in 32 games as Michigan claimed its fourth consecutive CWPA Championship in 2019.
