BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Alex Corbett (So., Sydney, Australia/MLC School) of the University of Michigan was named to the Team Australia roster for the 2017 FINA Junior World Championship in Volos, Greece on September 3-9.

She will compete with Australia in Group B against Greece, the Republic of South Africa and the People’s Republic of China.

Corbett is one of two current/future Wolverines’ to appear on a national roster for the event as incoming Michigan recruit Maddy Johnston (Menlo Park, Calif./Sacred Heard Preparatory) was named an alternate for the United States Women’s Junior National Team.

Coming off a freshman season in Ann Arbor, Mich. in which she appeared in 25 games with 14 goals, three assists, 17 points, 12 exclusions, six drawn exclusions and three steals in helping the Maize & Blue claim the 2017 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship, Corbett has been on the radar for the Australian National team since competing in the Canada Cup in 2013, where the Stingers took a silver medal.

She was previously selected to attend the 2020 Australia Towards Tokyo Camp. The camp, held at the Australia Institute of Sport, trains young stars in Australia to have their best showing on the world’s biggest stage.
