BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Julia Sellers (Jr., Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) of No. 9-ranked the University of Michigan contributed six goals over three games at the 2018 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship hosted by Bucknell University to earn Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors and recognition as the April 30 CWPA Division I Player of the Week.

She opened the weekend with four goals in a 16-4 defeat of Brown University on Friday, April 27, before notching single tallies in turning back No. 13 Hartwick College in the semifinals (9-5 W) on Saturday, April 28, and No. 11 Princeton University in the title tilt (11-8 W) on Sunday, April 29, as the Wolverines notched their third consecutive league championship.

The award marks the third Player of the Week nod during Sellers’ intercollegiate career as she previously took the February 27 laurel during the 2017 season prior to sharing the April 9 accolade in 2018 with Princeton’s Haley Wan (Sr., Irvine, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic).
