BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Maddy Steere (So., Pascoe Vale, Australia/St. Catherine’s School) of No. 8-ranked the University of Michigan led the Wolverines with nine goals in addition to adding four assists, three steals and a pair of field blocks as the team finished 3-2 at the University of California-Santa Barbara Winter Invitational on January 20-21. For her performance, Steere earns recognition as the January 22 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.

She helped the Maize & Blue take down a trio of nationally-ranked programs, while dropping a pair of games to Top Five ranked teams by a combined total of three goals.

She netted hat-tricks against both No. 4 University of California-Los Angeles (5-4 L) and No. 14/host UCSB (10-7 W) on Saturday, January 20, to surround a two goals and one assist performance versus No. 23 California State University-Northridge (14-5 W).  On Sunday, January 21, she added three assists against No. 17 University of California-San Diego (11-4 W) prior to notching a goal in a 5-3 loss to No. 5 Arizona State University.

The award marks the second weekly accolade bestowed on Steere who previously notched March 20 Rookie of the Week notice during the 2017 season.
