BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Sofie Pontre (Fr., Perth, Western Australia/Santa Maria College) of No. 9-ranked the University of Michigan scored once during a 13-6 loss to No. 3 University of California on Friday, May 11, in the quarterfinals of the 2018 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship hosted by the University of Southern California. For her performance, Pontre garners laurels as the May 14 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.
The award marks the third weekly honor bestowed on the Wolverines’ freshman in 2018. The January 22 Rookie of the Week, she also earned notice as the March 5 Defensive Player of the Week.
