BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of California-Davis and Middlebury College  will start the 2020 women’s collegiate club season with No. 1 rankings as the Aggies and Panthers top the Preseason Women’s Collegiate Club Top 20 and Division III Top 10 Polls.

2020 Women’s Club National Top 20 (Preseason)

The University of California-Davis – which finished second at the 2019 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship to the University of Florida – is the favorite to conclude the new season at No. 1 as the Aggies top the 2020 Women’s Collegiate Club Top 20 Poll.

UC-Davis (91 points), which dropped a 4-3 game to Florida on May 5 during the title game of the 2019 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship hosted by the University of Notre Dame, holds a narrow two-point lead for the No. 1 position over a pair of teams as both Florida (89 points) and San Diego State University (89 points) stand within striking distance of the Aggies.  California Polytechnic State University (88 points) rates one point off the tandem of the Gators and Aztecs to rate at No. 4, while the University of California-Los Angeles (85 points), the University of Washington (70 points), the University of California-San Diego (63 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (54 points), Lindenwood University (53 points) and Texas A&M University (46 points) round out the remainder of the Top 10.

Hartwick College (44 points), Notre Dame (37 points), Grand Valley State University (36 points), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (35 points) and Fresno State University (34 points) come in at No. 11-to-15.

Boston College (24 points) rates at No. 16 with Michigan State University (20 points) and the University of Michigan (20 points) tied at No. 17.  The University of California-Santa Cruz (15 points) and the University of Texas (12 points) conclude the Top 20 in the final two spots.

2020 Women’s Club Division III National Top 10 (Preseason)

Defending Division III Club National Champion Middlebury College will open the 2020 Women’s Collegiate Club season at No. 1 as the Panthers lead the Preseason Women’s Collegiate Club Top 10 Poll.

Middlebury (96 points), which won the inaugural Division III Club National Championship but finished at No. 4 in the final poll of 2019 due to Hartwick College, the University of California-Santa Cruz and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) electing not to compete in the event hosted at Villanova University, holds a six-point lead over a runner-up trio of UC-Santa Cruz (90 points), Hartwick (90 points) and Washington University in St. Louis (90 points) for the lead position.

MIT (82 points) comes in at No. 5 with Carnegie Mellon University (76 points), Grinnell College (64 points), Tufts University (58 points), New  York University (56 points) and Carleton College (38 points) accounting for the remaining spots in the Top 10.
