DAVIS, Calif. — The University of California-Davis Women’s Water Polo club seeks two new coaches for the upcoming season.
A completely student-run and student-funded program, the Aggies compete within the Sierra Pacific Division of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) and practice October through early May. The team’s primary competition season runs January through mid-April and possibly into early May if the team qualifies for the Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship. The team has clinched the National Championship four times (2012, 2013, 2017, 2018) and placed second in 2019.
Although one club, the team holds tryouts after fall quarter and break into A and B teams. The A team is more competitive and practices four times a week. The B team is no cut, focuses more on player development and practices three times a week (with the A team).
Under the direction of UC-Davis Sports Clubs, the student officers manage scheduling, finances, tournament planning, travel and apparel.
Coaches are paid quarterly and their only responsibility is coaching. Coaches travel and accommodations are paid for by the club. Although the team would love to find someone with coaching experience, experience isn’t a must.
