The head coach of women’s water polo is responsible for the planning, development, and administration of all phases of the assigned sport program within the UCLA Intercollegiate Athletics Department. The role includes preparation and management of the program’s budget, practice and game scheduling, travel arrangements, recruitment and selection of student-athletes and staff, interaction with support services, and involvement in public relations, fundraising, and promotional activities. The Head Coach will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to adhering to the policies, procedures, and guidelines set forth by the University of California System, UCLA Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA), the respective conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

- UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications:
- 5-8 years demonstrated coaching experience at the Division I level. (Preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with fiscal management and budgeting. (Required)
- Proven ability to select, recruit, and train elite athletes at the collegiate level. (Required)
- Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations and a proven record of compliance. (Required)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, administrators, peers, and the general public. (Required)
- Commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program. (Required)
- Demonstrated understanding of the responsibilities associated with coaching a Division I program and the ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes. (Required)
- Ability and willingness to adhere to UCLA’s policies regarding fiscal responsibility, ethical conduct, and compliance with university standards. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience & training. (Required)
- Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License in accordance with the California (CA) Department of Motor Vehicles. (Required)
- Must possess and maintain current certifications in first aid, CPR, and AED use. Proof of certifications must be provided within 30 days after employment. Duties will be limited until certifications are submitted. (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
- Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV “Pull Notice System” and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
- CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the “Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse”.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, university holidays and odd hours. (Required)
- 20% Ability to travel for team competitions and team activities.
