BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalkeeper Lucia Cordero (Fr., Orlando, Fla./Lake Howell) of the University of Central Florida stopped 46 shots with an assist and seal during a 2-2 weekend at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to earn a share of the February 24 Women’s Collegiate Club Southeast Division Player of the Week award.
She shares the award with Khloe Riordan (Gr., Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) of Florida State University who posted 14 goals during a 3-1 run by the Seminoles to clinch the division’s No. 2 regular season finish.
Cordero factored in all four games for the Knights by turning aside 14 shots versus Florida State (7-4 L), 12 versus Emory University (9-5 W), 11 against the University of Florida “B” (9-8 W) and an additional nine in a 13-6 loss to No. 14-ranked Florida “A” as Central Florida concludes the Southeast Division regular season with a 5-3 record.
The mark earned UCF the No. 3 seed for the upcoming Southeast Division Championship on Saturday-Sunday, March 29-30, at Emory in Atlanta, Georgia.
