BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Sophie Simpson (So., Redwood City, Calif./Woodside) of the University of Colorado turned aside 19 shots during a 5-4 victory in the Rocky Mountain Division Championship title game versus the University of Utah “A” to receive laurels as the division’s April 22 Women’s Collegiate Club Player of the Week.
Colorado – which punched the program’s ticket to the 2024 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, on Friday-Sunday, May 3-5 – upended the University of Utah “B” (15-1 W), the Colorado School of Mines (21-7 W) and Utah “A” (5-4 W) at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton, Colo., to capture the division crown.
