BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — No. 6-ranked the University of Michigan will stream its home games versus No. 17 University of California-San Diego, No. 10 University of the Pacific, No. 15 Fresno State University and No. 17 Long Beach State University on Saturday-Sunday, March 2-3 during the 2019 Wolverine Invitational at Canham Natatorium.
The defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Champion, Michigan will welcome six teams to Ann Arbor as representatives from the Big West Conference (Long Beach State), CWPA (St. Francis University, Michgian), Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (Marist College), Golden Coast Conference (Fresno State, Pacific) and Western Water Polo Association (UC-San Diego) will contest the 14-game invitational.
On Saturday, March 2, Michigan will take on UC-San Diego at 10:15 a.m.Eastern in the first meeting of the year between the Wolverines and Tritons. At 7:15 p.m., Michigan and Pacific will square-off for the fourth time in less than four months.
Michigan stands at 2-1 against the Tigers since early November as the Maize & Blue topped Pacific via a 4-3 shootout win (9-9 tie) during the Fall at a the USA Water Polo Collegiate Cup hosted the University of California-Irvine. During the women’s season, the teams have split their meetings with the Wolverines capturing an 11-9 win at Stanford University on February 3 prior to the Tigers returning the favor with a 12-9 victory at UC-Irvine on February 23.
Sunday, March 3, brings a clash with Fresno State at 8:45 a.m. as Michigan will aim to go 2-0 versus the Bulldogs after claiming an 11-6 win on January 20 at the University of California-Santa Barbara.
The Wolverines will close out the 14-game invitational at 4:00 p.m. as the team will aim to top Long Beach State.
