BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Abby Andrews (Fr., Indooroopilly, Australia/Brisbane Girls’ Grammar School) scored four goals, dished out an assist, collected five steals, won three sprints and blocked a shot during the season-opening University of California-Santa Barbara Winter Invitational to earn laurels as the January 21 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.
In a 2-2 weekend for the No. 9-ranked Wolverines, Andrews punched in her inaugural collegiate goal in an 11-5 defeat of No. 18 California State University-Northridge. She added a hat-trick in an 11-6 victory over Fresno State University. Michigan fell in its other two games as defending National Champion/No. 1 University of Southern California (9-2 L) and No. 3 the University of California-Los Angeles (9-7 L) bested the Maize & Blue.
