BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalkeeper Alex Brown (Gr., Clayton, Calif./Carondelet) of No. 10-ranked the University of Michigan tallied 33 saves during a 4-0 Wolverine Invitational weekend at home in Canham Natatorium.  For her performance, Brown is honored as the January 29 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.

A nine-time Defensive Player of the Week selection with previous recognition in 2021 (March 22), 2022 (February 14, March 7), 2023 (January 16, January 23, March 6, April 17) and 2024 (January 22), she aided the Maize & Blue in downing Saint Francis University (18-2 W), No. 21 Long Island University (14-9 W), Marist College (15-5 W) and Salem University (20-3 W) as Michigan improved its record to 4-3 on the season.

She opened the weekend on Saturday, January 27, by stopping five shots with no goals allowed in 16 minutes of work to claim the win versus Saint Francis in both teams’ CWPA season-opener.  Facing Long Island later in the day, she recorded 14 saves in a complete game defeat of the Sharks.

On Sunday, January 28, she capped off the weekend with nine saves facing Marist in a complete game prior to playing the first quarter with no saves nor goals allowed in stopping Salem.
