BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Anne Rankin (Fr., Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) of No. 10-ranked the University of Michigan made her two goals and two steals over four games at the University of California-Irvine’s Kalbus Invitational count to earn honors as the February 24 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.
A two-time Rookie of the Week selection after previously earning a nod on January 20, Rankin scored the game-tying goal with three seconds left in the fourth quarter to force overtime as the Wolverines topped No. 7 University of California, 11-10 OT, to open the tournament.
She finished with two goals against the Golden Bears prior to grabbing a steal in a 7-2 loss to No. 2 University of California-Los Angeles. Following a 9-8 Michigan loss to host/No. 6 UC-Irvine, she closed out the tournament with a steal in a 5-4 victory over No. 9 University of California-Santa Barbara in the Seventh Place game.
