BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Anne Rankin (Fr., Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) of No. 7-ranked the University of Michigan contributed four goals and three assists during a 2-2 weekend for the Wolverines at the University of California-Santa Barbara (UCSB) Winter Invitational. For her performance, Rankin earns status as the January 20 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.
She netted the Maize & Blue’s inaugural goal of the 2020 season to accompany pairs of assists and drawn exclusions during an 8-7 defeat of No. 22 California State University-Northridge on Saturday, January 18. She tacked on a pair of goals during a 14-9 loss to No. 5 University of California-Irvine prior in the day. On Sunday, January 19, she notched a goal in a 9-7 defeat of No. 11 UC-Santa Barbara after dishing out an assist in an 8-7 loss to No. 4 University of California.
