BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Ava Morrant (So., Maple Ridge, B.C./Maple Ridge Secondary) of No. 7-ranked the University of Michigan scored seven goals with an assist and three steals during a 2-2 weekend for the Wolverines at the University of California-Santa Barbara (UCSB) Winter Invitational to earn status as the January 20 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Player of the Week.
She posted her inaugural career hat-tricks in the season opening games of the year for Michigan on Saturday, January 18, as the Maize & Blue defeated No. 22 California State University-Northridge (8-7 W) and fell to No. 5 University of California-Irvine (14-9 L). Morrant added a career high two drawn exclusions against CSUN.
On Sunday, January 19, she added a goal and two steals in an 8-7 loss to No. 4 University of California to accompany an assist in an 9-7 defeat of the host/No. 11 Gauchos of UC-Santa Barbara.
