BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Heidi Ritner (Sr., Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar) made 35 saves over the span of 107:56 in cage to lead the No. 7-ranked University of Michigan Wolverines to a 3-1 record at home in Canham Natatorium on Saturday-Sunday, January 25-26, during the Michigan Invitational.  For her performance, Ritner is named the January 27 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.

An 18-time weekly honor recipient from the league office following the January 20 Defensive Player of the Week award seven days ago, four Defensive Player of the Week accolades in 2019 (February 25, March 18, April 15) and three Defensive Player of the Week awards (January 22, March 12, May 14) in 2018 along with five Rookie of the Week (January 23, February 13, February 27, April 10, May 15) and four Defensive Player of the Week (January 23, February 27, April 10, May 15) during her freshman season in 2017, she made 10 saves with five goals allowed in 27:56 against No. 21 Wagner College in an 11-8 victory

She tacked on four saves with six goals allowed against No. 5 the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) in a 12-4 setback prior to racking up 12 saves and four goals allowed in topping No. 11 University of the Pacific (7-4 W) and nine saves with two steals and six goals allowed in a 7-6 win versus No. 9 University of California-Santa Barbara.
